Took my wife and kids out for our anniversary meal a couple of weeks ago.
It’s my first time going and we both thoroughly enjoyed it.
The lady serving us was polite, very attentive and kept our kids entertained every time she came over to serve us.
I had the mackerel pate for starter, with the lamb rump for main. Normally I don’t really even like lamb but saw another customer order it and it looked so good I asked her what she had ordered and got the same myself.
It was absolutely perfectly cooked, a giant chunk of meat, lovely medium rare, juicy, well seasoned and came with a potato terrine that I need to find the recipe for, it was that good.
My wife had the spiced pork belly for starter after some encouragement from me (I wanted to try a bit) and for main the chicken supreme with chorizo, new potatoes and a lovely cream sauce, all served in a pastry shell.
She said it was the best meals out we’ve ever had.
Both of my kids had sausage and mash, and we all had brownie for desert.
I’m not a sweet person but thought the rest of the food was this good, I’ll try something from the sweet menu too (and I was right)
Meal came to around £80 total, slightly expensive but I’ve got no problem paying this much for food of such quality.
Already trying to find an occasion to go again.
We came for Sunday dinner today. We were a large table of 11 and cannot fault the service as it was excellent. Friendly staff who were very welcoming and chatty. Food was delicious. Beautiful inside and out! Cannot fault anything.
We will definitely be back and highly recommend.
Thank you and well done
Just had an enjoyable Bar Meal. First visit since re-opening. A lovely refurbishment! Remember to duck or grouse for the low beams if you are tall!
A warm welcome from friendly staff. Good food and good beer - Doom Bar and Black Sheep real ale! Look forward to our next visit. Thank you!
